Today's children won't grow up with the freedom to wander the streets we were afforded when we were young. So at the Yes Lab, we wondered how technology could give back some of this freedom to children and peace-of-mind to their parents.
While smartphones can solve some of this issue, our research quickly demonstrated that they weren't a great solution for children aged between 5 and 10. That led us to build SPOT, a tracking device and app that uses GPS, Wifi and BLE sensors to show parents where their child is at any time. We also wanted to test some unique features that will set SPOT apart from other trackers on the market.
Where are we now?
Right now, we’re experimenting with Microsoft Luis technology to create Spot Bot. This allows parents to correspond with Spot and locate their child through their native SMS service instead of downloading an additional app.
